Afternoon tea at Summerhome

A unique and enlightening historical experience

Our philosophy is to provide a very special experience.

The inhabitants of Summerhome have always been sociable; for nearly 160 years we have been welcoming family and friends, especially for Sunday afternoon tea.

It is elegant and refined but at the same time relaxing and inviting. We bake rock cakes just as our Grandmother did and butter wafer thin slices of brown bread as our Great Aunt taught us.

The highly polished tables are spread with white linen and lace cloths and the silver is polished to perfection. The fine china which has to be carefully washed by hand is taken from the cupboard and a delicious spread of cream spongecakes, rich fruit cake, cinnamon tea cake, sandwiches and biscuits are laid out.

The simple pleasure of taking tea together in familiar surroundings is truly delightful and we are happy to share this occasion with you.
